I was in a high volume, high stress role, working long hours and eating takeout. I was 56, 120 kilos and suffering with menopause, anxiety, breathing difficulties while walking and snoring like a steam train in my sleep.
I was morbidly obese and knew that I needed a serious lifestyle change for my own health and well-being.
I have been a yo-yo dieter for over 30 years and have tried other weight loss programmes where you needed to weigh your food, use point systems, buy extra food or the food was awful.
About 18 months ago, I was having a chat with my best friend Meg, where we were talking about overhauling my lifestyle. A couple of difficult conversations were had. I said that the only way that I could see myself losing weight, was to go and have weight loss surgery. Meg said that was very drastic, the surgery wasn’t for everyone and that I might not like the changes that I would need to make after it.
Meg recommended that I at least give Lite n’ Easy a try, as I had nothing to lose.
I was very apprehensive due to past experiences with weight loss programmes and convinced myself that it wasn’t right for me. Meg said to stop putting up barriers and give Lite n’ Easy a try for at least one week. If you don’t like it after that, then you have lost nothing.
With that nudge in the right direction, I commenced Lite n’ Easy the very next week. I ordered the 1200 Calorie Meal Plan, and to my surprise found the programme to be cost effective at about $22 per day. It was also very convenient as I didn’t need to buy any additional food nor fuss around with meal preparation as all the thinking had been done for me, AND the food was delicious.
Other lifestyle changes were made. I commenced walking every day, with my kilometres and pace increasing over the 18 month period. Now I do two circuits, one early morning and the second during my lunch break. This time is used to think and talk to passers by, with the added bonus of reducing anxiety levels. Also, I changed my role at work and am now transitioning to retirement.
After 18 months, it is awesome to say that I have reached my goal weight, losing 65 kilos!
I am once again loving life, feeling extremely healthy and planning on many travel escapades with Megs.
