At 93 years of age, I am a mother to eight children, I have 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Over the last few years my eyesight has deteriorated, and I’ve been diagnosed with Wet Macular Degeneration. This condition has significantly changed my lifestyle. I loved cooking but found I could not use the oven or stove top safely. It was difficult coming to terms with not cooking. I had some anxiety about what to do and I was losing the weight.
I was admittedly a little sceptical and concerned the meals would be too large for me. However, I was nicely surprised to find they offer the ‘My Choice’ meals which is just the right amount.
The meals are delivered each week, they have been delicious and wholesome and offer lots of variety. I have even tried a few things that I’ve never had before. I always enjoyed making meals in my kitchen for family and friends and one of my favourites is a roast dinner. I was very happy to find this is something I get to choose from the Lite n’ Easy menu with a variety of roast meats.
By including it in my Aged Care budget, it became very affordable. I also love the convenience of delivery. Even when I’m not home, I know my meals arrive safely, packed in a secure esky. I still enjoy being in the kitchen to make some more simple snacks and always a cup of tea for friends who drop in.
You’re in charge, so feel free to walk away from the table whenever you want.
