How Support at Home Helps You Eat Well, Stay Well and Live Independently
From 1 November 2025, the Australian Government’s new Support at Home (SaH) program will replace Home Care Packages (HCP), introducing a requirement for all meals and snacks delivered to older people through funded aged care services to be assessed at least annually by dietitian.
This is a significant step towards supporting people to live independently, maintain their health and enjoy life at home. This program helps older Australians access trusted meal delivery options like Lite n’ Easy under government funding.
At Lite n’ Easy, we’re proud to support this vision. Our My Choice range is designed by dietitians to meet the needs of older people receiving funded aged care services, making it easier than ever for older Australians to eat well, feel well and stay connected to the things they love.
As we age, our bodies require more protein and energy to maintain muscle mass, strength and confidence in daily life. However, many older Australians find it challenging to shop, cook or prepare regular meals. According to our recent Home Care Package Customer Survey, 58% of respondents chose Lite n’ Easy for “healthy convenience”, and 36% said for more independence.
“I had never been a very good cook and had a very limited repertoire in the kitchen. After my wife passed, I continued to rely on Lite n’ Easy dinners for good nutrition and then also started to include some of the new My Choice range of dinners, specifically made for us oldies. Having these meals prepared for me makes sure I get my protein and vegetable intake for the day, and I can enjoy a tasty meal with no cooking required.”

The new Support at Home program is designed to help older Australians live independently at home for longer. As part of this commitment, the government recognises the importance of access to nutritious, balanced meals.
Under Support at Home:
Meal preparation and delivery can be included as a funded service in your care plan.
Meals must be “nutritious and appetising” and meet the needs of older Australians.
Providers are required to have their menus reviewed annually by a dietitian to ensure meals meet the needs of this group.
This means that, where home-delivered meal services are available, you can access nutritious meals designed to support your health, wellbeing and independence.
We understand that appetites and needs change as we age. In fact, 56% of our HCP customers say their appetite has reduced and they can only manage smaller meals. That’s why every My Choice dinner is dietitian-designed and chef-prepared, with most providing at least 25 grams of protein to support muscle health, all in a portion size that’s easy to enjoy. Our range also includes soups and desserts, making it simple to enjoy a balanced, satisfying meal throughout the day.
“I was very impressed with the quality and great taste of the Lite n’ Easy meals, particularly the My Choice range. I especially enjoyed that there were so many meals to choose from, all designed for the elderly to be the right size for our appetites and also cater for all our dietary needs in terms of protein, fibre, vegetables, etc.”

Good nutrition is about more than food – it’s about living life your way. Our survey found that 89% of HCP customers believe their quality of life has improved since getting Lite n’ Easy meals delivered, and 77% report better overall health. Many people shared that having healthy, ready-made meals has reduced stress, supported their independence and given them more time for activities they enjoy.
“I still love my food… The My Choice meals are delicious, easy to prepare, and my aged care package covers most of the cost, which allows me to order every week.”
— Bill, 85, NSW
